Digital knowledge for children

Like most kids, your child will also grow up with a smart phone or tablet in hand, either in the home environment or outside of it. Equip your kids with the tools and critical thinking skills that can help them navigate an increasingly digitized future. With us, in our every lesson your kid can enjoy the path to digital literacy, learning essential skills in a playful manner!
This course will cover the basics of algorithmic thinking and programming, digital content creation, as well as internet use and safety. It will also introduce kids to computer hardware, digital devices, and robotics.
Coding and digital literacy have become an essential tool in a variety of fields, from academic research to animation and design. However, IT and digital education in primary schools is often outdated. Meanwhile, our kids are spending more and more time on their devices, as using smart phones and gadgets has become a norm.
By improving your kids’ digital skills, they can navigate digital environments in a conscious way, becoming digital creators instead of just passive consumers.

Digital Discovery for 2-3. graders:

Want your kid to get familiar with digital literacy and coding while having a lot of fun? On this course we focus on:

  • Programming: from block-based coding and calculation through easy-to-understand visual platforms, all the way to text-based coding
  • Algorithmic thinking
  • Digital content creation: 3D game design, digital drawing, image and video editing, text and presentation editing
  • Internet use and safety: online security, netiquette and online communication
  • The basic use of computer hardware and digital devices
  • Robotics

This course is the first step in our coding curriculum to introduce all the basic elements your kids will need in a gamified way.

 

Digital Discovery for 4-5. graders:

Digital literacy is more than coding. This course is the best way for your kids to find what is the most interesting part of the digital world for them.

  • Digital content creation: digital drawing, image and video editing, text, presentation, and spreadsheet editing
  • Programming introduced in a gradual manner: from block-based coding and calculation through easy-to-understand visual platforms, all the way to text-based coding
  • The basics of programming: algorithmic thinking, cycles, variable management (time-logical variables), random numbers, and an introduction to various programming languages
  • The basics of web development and web design
  • Internet security and privacy basics: personal data, secure browsers, critical and responsible information consumption and sharing, netiquette and online communication
  • Learning and understanding the fundamental elements of computer hardware and how it functions
  • Robotics: building and programming robots (Bee-Bot, mBot)

 

We recommend this course if your child:

  • is interested in coding, game development, and wants to discover the digital world in a fun way
  • would like to try various creative digital activities from coding to video editing
  • is spending a lot of time on his or her digital devices, and you would like them to be more conscious about their digital activities.
  • is interested in the world of robots and digital devices
  • would like to become more self-confident in online spaces

Tools:

  • For on-site participants: A Google account is necessary for participation. We provide all other tools for the course.
  • For online participants: To participate in the online course, each student will need a laptop or a computer at home with a solid internet connection, a built-in or external microphone, a Google account and a mouse. We recommend having a headset and a web camera as well. The software needed for online communication is provided by us.

Necessary software: The necessary software is provided by us, within our Logiscool sites, but online participants will need to have their own:

  • Microsoft Windows 10 operating system with the basic, pre-installed software that comes with it, e.g.: Paint, Paint 3D, Photos
  • Google Chrome browser

Prerequisite: Kids do not need any previous training or knowledge to complete this course.
