Our students learn algorithmic thinking, which is a very valuable , even if not all of them will become a programmer. We will help them learn new programming languages and technologies by letting them play games relevant to their age group, using their aqcuired skills. The individual and gorup activities significantly enhance the creativity, problem solving and communications skills of the children. It is very important that the children feel the experience of being successful and they become open and brave to initiate their ideas. This will have a positive effect on their results in school.
It is natural for the children to use computers, tablets and smart phones. By learning programming knowledge, we enable children to spend their time in front of the screen not only in a passive, recipient role, but in a more active and creative manner.
No preliminary training, exceptional mathematical or IT knowledge is required. Anyone can program, it is worth giving a try!
Our youngest participants are 6 years old, but you can start programming at any age, it is never too late!
Our tutors/trainers are enthusiastic young university students, who are very good at programming. Before they start teaching, they participate in professional and pedagogical trainings organised by Logiscool.
You can apply to a Logiscool course or camp exclusively via our website. You can select the required school under the Schools menu item and you need to fill in the application form on the website of the required school. During the application period the school management will confirm the applications based on group schedules and availability.
We organise open day events in our schools regularly, typically during the application period, before the start of the semesters. Students and their parents interested in our courses are all welcome at these events. During these open day events we introduce Logiscool to the participants. They can have a glimpse at the exciting world of programming and also get the chance to code without any specific preliminary training or qualification. For more information about the date and time of our open day events, please click on the Schools menu item and select the required school.
In the academic year 2018-2019 our Programming courses include computer game and application designer, robotics, and for the first grade students we also organise a Digital basics course. Robotics courses are about programming and building LEGO Mindstorms EV3 robots. By selecting the required school under the Our schools menu item, you can view the courses offered by the required school.
We organise our camps typically during school holidays. During the winter or spring break we organise 3 to 4 day long camps, while in the summer holidays we organise weekly camps (5 days). We organise camps around various topics. During the summer holidays of 2016 we organised Programmer, Application designer, Robotics, Minecraft and/or Website designer/ video editor camps for the participants.
In the academic year 2018-2019 our courses start on 12th or 19th September. Please select the Our schools menu item and click on the requested school to double-check the start date. The second semester courses start on 30th January 2019. In this academic year our courses finish in the week of 6th June 2019. The curriculum of our courses consists of modules built on each other and running for several years. Several years are required to learn programming at an advanced level, similarly to learning a foreign language or to obtain musical knowledge.
Students participate in one lesson per week with a duration of 1.5 hours (2x45 minutes). We organise our lessons on weekdays starting from 2.45 p.m., on Saturday mornings from 10.30 a.m. In certain schools of our network lessons may start at times deviating from the above schedule. (You can obtain more information about the start times via the Our schools menu item, by clicking on the required school.) The earlier start times are usually recommended for junior school pupils.
Our beginner students are grouped based on their age. We offer separate groups for children attending the 1st and 2nd grade, 3rd to 5th grade, 6th to 8th grade and 9th +year. If required and it is possible based on the applications, we also start a girls only group.
Yes, it is possible to join the course within 3 weeks from the start date. Participants joining late have the opportunity to make up for the missed lessons and to learn the knowledge obtained by the other participants.
Yes, but it doesn’t happen too often :) In this case we hope that the participant comes back later to a course or to a summer camp! Based on the General Terms and Conditions, only the payment of the monthly instalment for the already started month is required, you don't have to pay the additional instalments.
The course fee is payable in equal monthly instalments of 250 SGD during the academic year, except for instalments for partial months. An academic year consists of 2x18 occasions; one lesson is 2x45 minutes. The course prices may differ in the individual schools.
According to our fundamental concept, if a child misses a lesson, we always provide an opportunity to make up for the non-attended lesson. The extra lesson/opportunity is always agreed with the parent by the school leader.
Yes, but only if the age difference between the siblings is not more than two years. The reasons is that in such cases the older child might get bored, because based on their age they could advance quicker or the younger sibling could lag behind as the curriculum may be too difficult for their age.
